It was the hardest day and the best day.
I didn’t even think I could get out of bed this morning. Jax and I had spent the night taking turns vomiting into a bucket. I don’t share this because I want sympathy. I share it to demonstrate what God can do. We were physically incapable of doing anything in our own strength this morning. Yet we knew that if we stayed in bed there would be people who didn’t hear the Word. We prayed together, gave each other pep talks, and set out on our final day in the village.
Our first house was directly across the street from where the bus dropped us off. I shared the Priceless cube, and Jax shared the Evangecube. 22 people accepted Christ at that house! It took absolutely everything out of us to stand and share, and both of us were wondering how we were going to make it to the next house.
The joy of watching 22 people give their lives to the Lord fueled us to press on. We walked two miles to the next house. When we arrived, I immediately saw the joy in the woman of the house. There was something special about her. We found out later that she was already a believer. She invited all of her neighbors to listen to our message, and 28 people accepted Christ in her house.
50 people. 50 new believers. 50 people who had never before heard the gospel. 50 people who are now saved from death and will spend eternity in heaven.
Here’s the truth: we had nothing to do with it. All we did was be obedient to what we were called to do. That’s it. It would have been so much easier to stay in bed and say we didn’t have the strength to get up, but look at what we would have missed out on. God is good. God is faithful. He is mighty. The best part is, He lets us be a part of His plan!
